Bead Market in Agomanya, Ghana

The town of Agomanya is about 5 km west from Kpong on the Somanya road. On Wednesday and Saturday the bead market is open for business. On my second trip to Ghana I bought beads from this vendor. There are other bead markets in Central and Eastern Ghana such as the Koforidua market. There are so many colors and styles to choose from, and a wide range of prices. Newly made beads can be purchased, as well as, very rare and valuable antique trade beads. Glass beads were originally used as currency for trade between the 16th and 20th century.
